Tree Care for Birds and Other Wildlife

Tree Care for Birds and Other Wildlife, Amelia Oliver, California ReLeaf; Andy Trotter, West Coast Arborists; Ryan Gilpin, HortScience Inc.

This effort is a continuation of a project which has identified Best Management Practices for tree care appropriate to conservation of birds and other wildlife. The collaboration has created a Web site:  TreeCareForBirds.com.

The second phase (supported by the Britton Fund) will develop education/ training-based components for the industry, using these BMPs. It will also begin development of marketing tools and industry outreach. The ultimate goal is to make the public aware that trained professionals who have adopted these BMPs are worth hiring. Regulatory agencies are involved. Certification within the broader ISA structure is a future goal.

The publication Tree Care for Wildlife Best Management Practices – 2nd edition, is available through The Britton Fund’s bookstore.
