Education is at the heart of a strong, resilient arboriculture profession.
The Britton Fund’s education initiatives are designed to support learning, training, and professional growth for members of the WCISA, tree enthusiasts, community members and our youth. From workforce development and safety training to curriculum development and innovative educational programming, we invest in projects that help build skills, share knowledge, and strengthen the future of tree care across the Western region and beyond.
Through our Education Grants Program, The Britton Fund provides targeted funding to bring practical, high-impact learning opportunities to life. These grants support projects that translate knowledge into action—helping tree care professionals, educators, and partners expand access to quality education, advance best practices, and elevate the profession. Together, we’re growing the people who care for our trees, today and for generations to come. Learn more about our Education Grant Proposal Guidelines for important information.

New! WCISA Women in Arboriculture Awarded $5,000 Grant
The Britton Fund is proud to support WCISA Women in Arboriculture with a $5,000 grant to help expand access and affordability for participants attending the Advanced Tree Climbing Workshop, part of the annual Women’s Tree Climbing Workshop taking place March 20–23, 2026, at Emerald Bay on Catalina Island, California. Designed for experienced climbers who meet specific prerequisites, the Advanced Workshop focuses on strengthening technical skills through safety briefings, advanced climbing techniques, and hands-on practice across multiple climbing stations. Beyond skill development, the program creates a safe, supportive space where women in arboriculture can learn from one another, build confidence, and strengthen professional community.

Professional Scholarship Awards to Attend WCISA Conference
The Britton Fund awarded four $1,500 professional scholarships to WCISA members from Nevada, Arizona, California, and Hawaii to attend the 91st WCISA Annual Conference and Tradeshow in Tucson, AZ. These scholarships help to offset registration and travel costs, ensuring that dedicated tree-care professionals from across the Chapter have access to continuing education, research updates, and valuable networking opportunities. By investing in members from each state, The Britton Fund continues its commitment to strengthening arboriculture through education, professional development, and regional collaboration.
