Prepping for BFR #8 – FUN!

Greetings Britton Fund Supporters! I hope this message finds you all well!

We invite you to indulge in a festive Holiday meal this Thursday – the FUN part – then begin to burn off (and raise your metabolism to keep off) the holiday calories sure to follow in the coming weeks by getting on your bike at least twice over this holiday week-end!

BFR #8 will be held Monday April 27th launching from the town of Oakhurst, 15 miles west of Tenaya Lodge near the south entrance to Yosemite National Park. Route options include 36, 66, and 90 mile options. Lots of climbing on beautiful roads around Bass Lake and into the forest above on quiet country roads! Extensive training will be a must to really enjoy this ride, held at a beginning elevation of 2,276 feet. Links to routes will be posted on the website soon!

During your training, celebrate with us the 150 year Anniversary of President Lincoln signing the Yosemite Grant Act! This act, signed June 30th 1864 amidst the Civil War, was the first act to protect wild lands for the public.

It ensured the preservation of Yosemite Valley and the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias.  The Yosemite Grant launched the national park movement, creating a legacy that continues through this day.

We will be a short 4-5 mile bike ride from the Mariposa Grove during the WCISA Annual Meeting April 27th-30th. Please make plans now to join us for the Britton Ride, Auction, and wonderful educational opportunities at the conference, surrounded by the majesty that is Yosemite!

I hope you all have a wonderful fall season, filled with cycling, family, and friends!

Cheers,

Doug Anderson
